Too Boot
amongst the ‘things I die for’ this season are these amazing bronze Dr. Martens in the continuing collaboration with Raf Simons. A sleeker silhouette than the original Dr. Marten style, these boots scream city chic with just a hint of bad ass. Wait, I hear them saying something else…something like ‘put me on your feet immediately’. Unfortunately the price tag screams “I cant afford you!” retailing close to $5oo.
In other collaboration news, the highly anticipated launch of Jimmy Choo for H&M kicks off this saturday. The exciting thing about this collab is that it is the first time Jimmy Choo is offering mens wear, sadly the overall response to the mens collection has been, well, disappointment. The designs are lackluster and missing that Jimmy Choo edge the label is so famous for. The one thing that did pop out were these leather bikers boots. The question is do I want to get in line at 6am at the Beverly Center just to drop 200 bucks.

Best of Spring 2010 – 3.1 Phillip Lim
Now I love me some Phillip Lim, and while I will say that his color palette typically stays pretty consistent (khakis, reds, bunt yellows), he did some pretty nice things structurally this season, along with some fun mixing of materials (leather and chiffon, pic 2). And I particularly am liking the jackets for spring.

Anna Sui for Target Hits Stores
Target continues its series of designer collaborations, this time with the fun and eccentric Anna Sui. The line is inspired by the hit T.V. show Gossip Girl, depicting the dramas of the privileged Upper East Siders. Each of the pieces in the collection is supposed to correspond to a different girl from the show, so whether you’re romantic lace and neckties like Blair, or funky up-town chic like Serena, there is something for the Gossip Girl in you. The line hits stores and online today to coordinated with the season premiere of the show. I’m going to hit up my local Target in a little bit to see I can find anything, and get a better idea of the look and quality of the clothes. If any of you buy anything, let me know what you think of the collection!

The Bandit
A lot of exciting things have been happening in fashion recently and I feel like women are being more adventurous with the pieces they choose to wear. Part of the thanks can be given to statement makers like Andrea Edwards, LA native and designer of Hippie Chic headbands. Andrea started making these headbands with pieces of broken jewelery she had been collecting throughout the years and now frequents local vintage stores and yard sales to see what other trash she can turn into treasures like these pictured above. She describes her influences to be the people she observed and was surrounded with while growing up in LA, and that her inspiration comes from quite an eclectic mix “Growing up in Los Angeles there are so many different type of people who inspire me from the lady on Ceaser Chavez Blvd hustling her tamales to punk rock teenager waiting for the bus on Soto Street”. Pair one these with a simple cocktail dress and boom, instant party success.
I’ve been a fan of these headbands since I first stepped into the Little Dress Shop and so I’m excited to finally share them with you guys. Each one is truly a little masterpiece of its own, and whats more unique than the one of a kind designs is the one of a kind names she gives to each one.
Prices range from $30+ and are available at,

Slim Pickins
As much as I love J.Crew, I find the sizing to be very frustrating and I often end up paying more just to have the pieces altered. I mean, you would think that they would have jumped on board with the whole slim-fitting-modern-man thing, but as it so happens, they’re getting closer! I went into the Pasadena store last week when a really nice salesperson recommended the new Urban slim fit broken in chino. So I thought I would humor him by trying them on, thinking “yea, sure… we’ll see just how slim”. Well I was definitely proven wrong, they fit great! that and they are crazy comfortable, so I was way happy to take them home.
I am also looking for a handsome new bag to go with my handsome new notebook, or should I say MacBook. I picked up my new 15″ MacBook Pro this weekend and I am waaay stoked to be writing my first post from my new MacBook. My old one wasn’t very old but the difference in color, speed, and performance is night and day, which makes it that much easier and efficient to do the things I normally do, plus with the 20 units I am taking this semester, it’ll be nice to stare into a big beautiful screen, since I’ll be doing it for hours on end I’m sure. Now back to the bag, I was on J.Crew.com last night (I’m obsessed, I know) and I decided to order this Artisian Leather Messenger. I guess the biggest adjustment is going from 13″ to 15″, 13 is a perfect size to lug around to classes and such, and while I love my new one I just hope I can find the right bag that will fit my Mac and and books/papers this semester.
If anyone has any recomendations for nice big totes/sling bags, please let me know!

The Purchase
Last Friday Nordstrom kicked off their annual, and most popular, Anniversary Sale. During Anniversary new fall product comes in and are marked down 33%, then go back up to regular price after the sale. They also have really good deals on cosmetics and fragrances as you’re about to see while I share with you some of the goodies I bought.
First, shoes. Last year I bought a great pair of burnt toe and heel Carnaby boots from Gordon Rush, and this year I could not pass up on this awesome deal on Cole Hann Penny Loafers
They also come in black but I love this saddle color and I think they’ll be great for fall. Another edition to my collection of driving shoes but they’re perfect for both work and school, and comfortable to walk around in, so completely justifiable. reg price 148.00, anniversary price 89.90
The shoes were my only clothing purchase but I did score some good deals in cosmetics. Typically I use MenScience face wash but I heard some pretty good things about Jack Black and figured I’d give it a shot. A 16oz bottle of Pure Clean face-wash came out to 32.00, which is pretty good considering I would pay 25.00 for an 8oz bottle of MenScience. The Pure Clean has Aloe and Sage leaf which smells great, and the PurseScience formula ensures that all of the ingredients are both organic and vegan. Although the Deep Detox clay mask was not on sale, I had been looking for a good mask I could use once a week. So far I’ve only used it as an overnight spot treatment on blemishes and it seems to work pretty well, I think I’ll try the full mask tonight.
My final purchase was a bottle from the new D&G fragrance collection, #18 “La Lune”. D&G put out a set of 5 fragrances, each with a distinct scent which are exclusive to Nordstrom until the fall I believe. I am very picky when It comes to fragrances, in fact the only one I wear is Marc Jacobs (and Tom Ford on occasion). After checking these out however, and spending a very long time at the cosmetic counter I made my choice. The scent is very light and floral, very much like Marc Jacobs. Here is the description from Nordstrom.com so you can get a better idea; Hypnotizing white florals nestle against an intriguing base of the softest, most exquisite pale leather. An enveloping, hypnotic lily and tuberose heart rest upon a textured base of sandalwood, musk, orris and white leather. Subtle, mysterious, utterly alluring. The fragrances come in 3.3oz bottles and are 65.00 each. They also come with a cute little D&G cell phone charm as a gift.
Well that wraps up Anniversary 09! I think I did pretty well though :)
