Long Live McQueen
Photos from Alexander McQueen’s last collection, shown during Paris fashion week.
“What McQueen was preparing had a poetic, medieval beauty that dealt with religious iconography while recapturing memories of his own past collections… But the circumstances, sad as they are, allowed his friends and colleagues to share a long and poignant moment to look at what the man achieved, and to grieve for him.” Style.com

Les enfants sennuient le dimanche
Elijah Wood and Shirley Manson for Oliver Peoples. This video is so much fun and makes me want sunglasses, boy blazers, and bowties for spring. And Shirley Manson in a pool.

THURSDAYS
After a couple months of hiatus (and a slap on the wrist by my adviser), I’m coming back with regular updates again. I don’t know if I lost my readership already, but come back! I have tons of stuff I want you to see!
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for the comeback post since I have so much to share, but I figured a few pictures from a fun Thursday night at Dominicos should do while I organize everything else. How does Stephanie manage to make it into every-other post? That girl, I tell ya…

Something Old, Something New
Lately I’ve been all about comfort, but as I’m learning, casual is alot harder to do than I thought. I have been having such a hard time just finding super simple – yet comfortable basics. This weekend however was full of wins. First is the henley by Alternative Apparel, prima cotton at its best, it feels so nice I don’t want to take it off! The real treasure here though is the vintage Levi’s shirt jacket I bought at La Bomba while hunting for my costume. I can’t make out the material but I think its some sort of linen, super soft and worn-in, and the dye job is really cool. Its the perfect California jacket, great for layering, or light enough to go over a tee shirt. If you haven’t noticed, I’m in love…
and the shoes are driving mocs from To Boot New York. another favorite :) I just got them back from the shoe repair! they were in desperate need of a cleaning.

Stephanie Does Vuitton
… sort of
as we put together our costumes this weekend, steph opted for a disco queen, and me, well you’ll see in due time ;) but as she put on the blond afro wig all I could think of was
a) how good she looks in a blond afro wig, and
b) the spring 2010 Louis Vuitton show
and yes, that is my MJ bowtie clipped in there hahaha. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!! I cannot wait for this weekend, the first batch of halloween parties = amazing post for next week.

We’ve Got Spirit!
Check out this very cool article published in todays Los Angeles Times Image section, highlighting the best in class of L.A. Fashion makers in 2010. Heres what they had to say about Tarina Tarantino
L.A. Fashion’s Class of 2010
The cool kids can be global trendsetters, and school spirit quite literally sparkles. No wonder it takes a month to spend a week in Los Angeles.
School spirit
(Ricardo DeAratanha / Los Angeles Times)
While her first store may have opened in Milan in 2002, Tarantino’s enthusiasm for her home base of L.A. is undeniable. The fantasy-infused confections and sparkly eye candy that glisten in her Melrose Avenue shop are a reflection of the Hollywood aesthetic, and celebrities show up to red-carpet events around town wearing her pendants, glittery hair clips and Lucite necklaces. Prices range from $75 to $500.

Best of Spring 2010 – Matthew Williamson
I thought I had my mind made up about spring, that is until I saw the Matthew Williamson collection. Young, fresh, and electric. Quite possibly my favorite women’s wear collection.
