Mexico City, Day 1 – A View From The Top

Hey everyone! So here is your first Mexico City update. I flew in last night from LAX at about 11:30, cleared customs, and made it to our lovely hotel here at Paseo de la Reforma around 1am. Unfortunately, a few days before I left I came down with a cough and have been suffering from sinus pressure all day. Lets just say, sinus’s and pyramid climbing do not mix. Regardless, I am finally here and it’s going to take a hell of a lot more than a cold to bring me down.

Today we visited the archaeological site of Teotihuacan, strolled the Avenue of the Dead, and climbed the Pyramid of the sun. I have to say it was bigger and more fascinating that I could have ever expected. It’s almost impossible to fathom the near 100,000 people who once inhabited this site many moons ago, making it one of the first major metropolis for its time.

we could not have asked for more perfect weather today, partly cloudy for most of the day, making the hike through Teotihuacan both bearable and refreshing, along with the climb to the top of pyramid.

Now its time to get some rest and hope that this cold is less severe tomorrow, so much more to see! Buenas noches amigos, asta manana!

In Motion

The world seems to spinning faster than ever, doesn’t it? Another semester came and went and I can hardly believe its summer (although this weather would have you thinking different). So to help capture the essence of life in motion comes this series from photographer Lee Strickland. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.

Tear it up

LA Times is reporting that paying upwards of $300 for destroyed denim is chic yet again. No thank you.

You Belong to a Simpler Time

Remember when men used to pride themselves in they way they dressed? And it wasn’t considered ‘metro-sexual’, or ‘effeminate’, it was just men wanting to look sharp all the time? Well, I guess most of us aren’t old enough to remember (including my self) but it begs the question of how the sartorial male died, and American masculinity took over (bbq stains on my white tee shirt- masculinity). This is something I am interested in researching and finding out. Luckily, along with old photographs to remind us of a simpler time, we have conceptual shoots like these that make me long for the return of the Dandy male.

Second Grade Sartorialist

Meet Arlo Weiner. Arlo is the eight-year-old son of Mad Men creator, Matt Weiner, and quite possibly the best dressed second grader in the Continental U.S.

Arlo was featured on GQ’s men.style.com where he dicusses the development of his person style, as well as some of his favorite pieces. The profile features ten pictures of Arlo’s favorite outfits commented on by the premature fashionista himself. I guess when your dad produces an ultra stylish show set in the sixties, some of it is bound to rub off…
